Details:
Andy Ray grew up in Minnesota and finished college there. Although he was pushed in other directions as a youth, he always dreamed about playing music and fooled around with musical instruments from the age of 15. For a few years, Andy taught English in Japan, primarily Hiroshima. This inspired two of the songs he has written, none available on this album, but can be accessed as described below. Around the year 2000, he experimented with recording songs at a professional studio, but then realized it would take too much money to record the songs the way he wanted to. At that point, he started toying around with the idea of making recordings on a simple computer program. Since then, he has recorded 50 to 60 songs, half of which he hasn't completed. The songs you hear on this CD are his best 10 tracks, as voted upon by his friends. Andy didn't want a long drawn out biography, and in my view, his songs speak for themselves in quality and imagination. They don't sound like anything on alternative radio; they don't follow the same formulas you hear utilized over and over again. Above all else, Andy stresses the importance of MELODY in his songs, something truly lacking in much of contemporary music, in my opinion. You'll be singing Andy's songs in no time. Everyone should hear these songs at least once.(By the way, you can hear other Andy Ray tracks and download them for free at garageband.com/artist/andyray)
