Andrei Rosianu was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1961, into a family of Russian-Romanian intellectuals who were deeply involved with classical music. He had his first violin lessons at the age of four. At the age of five, he was admitted to the âGeorge Enescuâ Music High School and he made his debut as soloist with orchestra at the age of ten; at eleven, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Octavian Ratiu, he won the 1st prize at the National Violin Competition and a year later the prize of the Association of Romanian Composers for the best interpretation of George Enescuâs 2nd sonata for violin and piano. A recital in Germany, at the age of 12, was his debut abroad. At 15, he won a scholarship for further education in Interlochen/Michigan, USA. Here too he gave many recitals and appeared in many concerts, one of which was broadcast âcoast to coastâ and led to his first LP recording.
Rosianu rounded off his education in 1979 with the highest distinction in violin and piano and continued his studies at the Music Academy of Bucharest with Professor Stefan Gheorghiu. He passed his final exam in 1983 with âcum laudeâ. In 1979, Rosianu founded the âGeorge Enescuâ String Quartet, which he led as 1st Violin.
Andrei Rosianu has been successful in numerous competitions and won many prestigious prizes in Poland (Chamber Music Competition, 1979), East Germany (J. S. Bach Violin Competition, Leipzig, 1980), France (Chamber Music Competition, Colmar, 1981), Romania (National Chamber Competition, 1981, National Violin Competition, 1983) and Switzerland (Radio Suisse Romande Prize, 1981, Tibor Varga Violin Competition, 1984).
After leaving his native country in 1987, Rosianu became co-Leader of the Aachen City Orchestra; in 1992, the Lübeck Philharmonic Orchestra engaged him as 1st orchestra Leader. In parallel, from 1988 to 1992 he has also been soloist and 1st orchestra Leader of the âDrei Länder Kammerorchesterâ of Aachen and from 1992 to 1995 Leader and 1st Violin of the Lübeck String Quartet.
In 1993 Andrei Rosianu acquired the Dutch nationality.
Since the beginning of 1995 Andrei Rosianu is 1st Leader of the Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra. In 1998 he founded the âMannheim Soloistsâ which he leads as 1st Leader and Conductor and with whom he works on very ambitious and rarely performed works.
Solo or with his chamber music ensembles Rosianu gave numerous concerts in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the USA and recorded for radio and television. The previous CD (Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saëns Violin Sonatas), which Andrei Rosianu recorded with his wife Roxana Rosianu, was received by the press and public with great enthusiasm: âRosianuâs tone is refined, elegant and full and he thoroughly knows how to make the melodies singâ. Andrei Rosianu also gave Master classes in Germany, Romania and USA.

The Dutch pianist Roxana Rosianu (b. Craita-Roxana Nanu) was born in Bucharest, Romania, the country of Enescu, Lipatti, Haskil, Brancusi and Celibidache. Already at the age of four, she received piano lessons from her mother, Oltea Sfat, a teacher of piano and singing. Later she was taught by Professor Rosemarie Mastero at the âGeorge Enescuâ Music High School. At the Music Academy of Bucharest, she studied with Professor Dragos Tanasescu and Professor Dr. Constantin Ionescu-Vovu. In the course of her study, she became acquainted with all the epochs and stylistic currents of musical history and graduated in piano âcum laudeâ. She gave many concerts with orchestra and solo recitals, many of them recorded by the Romanian Broadcasting Corporation.
In her second home country, The Netherlands, Roxana Rosianu led her own piano school, gave many recitals and was frequently a member of music competition juries. She is also much in demand as an accompanist for string players and singers, with her main interest lying in chamber music. Together with her husband, the violinist Andrei Rosianu, she plays numerous concerts in Germany, Belgium, Romania and the Netherlands.
