METAL: Metalcore, METAL: Heavy Metal
Details:
"I don't wish you dead, I wish you broken. I lust not for your flesh, but for your failure. Smirk one more time, but look back over your shoulder, for when you grow lax I will still not forget." - from "Firstborn Amongst My Enemies"
Ashes Within was conceived in 2005 by guitarist Miguel DeJesus Jr. and bassist Laura Zaino (formerly of All For Nothing and The Wage Of Sin) with the intent of writing straight-forward heavy music. A chance meeting with long-time friend Jeffrey Harris provided a drummer with exactly the same ideals. The trio proceeded to compose a number of punishing songs, but were unable to find a vocalist to fit the bill for several months. Finally, they met recent NYC immigrant, Eric Anderson (formerly of The Aleatoric and The John Galt Line). The match was perfect, and the band's current incarnation was born.
Ashes Within plays, simply, brutal music. We don't try to emulate or fit into any particular arcane sub-genre of the metal scene. Our songs are crafted for maximum visceral impact, whether it be simple or complex, harmonious or dischordant. They are played with brutally, honestly, and from the very core of everything we know. This exists. This is our crutch, our catharsis, and our weapon.
