Details:
Nigel Brewer began playing guitar in 1981 at the age of 14. He was given his frst electric guitar as a gift and enrolled in private guitar tuition by 1990 guitar player magazine soundpage winner Glen Kuykendall. Brewer later studied with D.C. area Guitar legend Michael Fath .
Nigel's early fave and still an important infuence is Edward Van Halen. Nigel Discoverd the talents of Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhodes a few monthes before a tragic plane crash took the young guitarists life on March 19, 1982. Rhoades remains as Brewer's most significant influence and has made a profound effect on his playng style.Later, Yngwie Malsteen, Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, and Dream Theater's John Petrucci would inspire Nigel Brewer to further refine his technique.
In 1993 Nigel Brewer co-founded the Hard-alternative band Nemesis with drummer Andre Love, who had been been a member of Remission and Split Decision. Nemesis' most significant accomplishment was having an origional song titled "Some Friend" picked from over 500 local bands to be part of Baltimore radio station 98 Rock's (wiYY 97.9FM) Noise in the Basement compilation CD. This allowed Nemesis to perform at an all day Local Music Showcase at Merriwether Post Pavilion on June 18th 1994. This event was headlined by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.
!n June of 1996, Nigel Brewer left Nemesis to concentrate on his main musical interest at the time, instrumental rock. After much recording and recording, Brewer recorded his debut demo Journey Through A Dream, which received a rave review in The Shredzone web Magazine.
The Arise From Oblivion project began in the spring of 2005 when Nigel Brewer began writing new composistions that seemed far better suited for traditional vocal led hard rock/metal songs than the guitar driven instrumental music that he had previously focused on. After spending a few monthes writing new material and demoing the songs in his home studio, Nigel once again teamed with drummer Andre Love whom he played with in Nemesis years before,(Love is currently the percussionist for One Slack Mind as well as his own project Soulcraft) and began the new project in june 2005.
