Members of The Atomic Sherpas are veteranos and beneficiaries of the great era of punk rock when that meant doing whatever the hell you wanted as long as it was unique and done with wide eyed gut baring gusto. So the cats in the true spirit have blazed individual trails since those days reaching into the magic bags of punk, jazz, funk, rock and roll, free playing (yes...the avante garde, Pierre), blues, groove, freakoutonia, more punk, americana and even hot-rod music. But these are strange waters we're heading into, and they require the melding of the worlds into a writhing core of pure "Blowin' It At Ya". Is it anti-punk to improvise? Only if you square, baby. Could James Brown, Eric Dolphy, Jello Biafra, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Little Walter drop in on Sonics Youth and go play down at the local bar? We say they could, and it would be even more punk than a torn leather jacket with spikes and Final Conflict and Corrosion of Conformity logos painted on it - and that's pretty punk.
