"Banjo Dan" Lindner has long enjoyed a reputation as one of New England's top acoustic artists and most accomplished songwriters. He has fronted Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys, one of New England's most popular acoustic bands, since 1972. Performing around the Northeast, and with several overseas tours to its credit, the band has always featured original material, to which Dan has contributed heavily. The band's many albums have earned sterling reviews from Bluegrass Unlimited, CD Review and other periodicals. Dan also works as part of The Sky Blue Boys, one of the region's foremost practicioners of old-time country music.
Dan is a master of the "story song" and delights in unearthing unusual and quirky tales for his compositions. "Mystery and Memories," Volume III of Banjo Dan's Songs of Vermont, draws upon memorable events in the state's history, folklore and legend, with the just the right dose of nostalgia. It was selected by one of the state's top newspapers as 2006 album of the year.
