DOUBLE DENSITY

âDouble Densityâ was the third album from Baltimoore and marked a heavier direction for the band. Originally released in 1992, âDouble Densityâ saw a new line up with the inclusion of guitarist Nikolo Kotzev (who later went onto form Brazen Abbot) joining band leader Björn Lodin in the song writing stakes. The album saw the Baltimoore sound move into a melodic hard rock waters with comparisons to Whitesnake and the heavier end of Hagar era Van Halen.

The powerful opener âMy Kind Of Womanâ - a joint effort between Lodin and Kotzev - received rotation on MTV at the time of original release and its hard rocking up-tempo fun is hard to deny. Four numbers penned solely by Björn Lodin follow in âDo Anotherâ - home to a blistering solo from Kotzev. âNever Gonna Let You Inâ sees more guitar wizardry followed by a ever so addictive mid tempo riff over which Lodin exhibits his vocal skill. âPain & Pleasureâ is a double bass drum rocker along the lines of â5150â era Van Halen or â1987â era Whitesnake. âHello Againâ 14 years on remains a favourite with many Balimoore fans worldwide and is a near perfect example of Lodinâs skill as an arranger and performer. The track takes several turns all of which powered along by Lodinâs emotion drenched vocals, whilst Kotzev makes the track complete with a sublime solo. Another joint Lodin / Kotzev composition âLove Me Or Leave Meâ sees a more up-tempo American rock sound come into play again before a Kotzev instrumental âSnakefightâ showcases Nikolo guitar skills. 2 more Lodin compositions follow in âOutdoâ and âTil The End Of Dayâ. The former is another blazon hard rock affair whilst the later is a rich acoustic tapestry that builds into a delightful crescendo. âWish I Could Do Betterâ exhibits a nice Thin Lizzy harmony guitar tag mixed with a heavy shuffle pattern whilst âBite My Baitâ stomps around back in straight hard rock waters.

The Björn Lodin / Nikolo Kotzev incarnation of Baltimoore would reappear 2 years later with 1994âs âThought For Foodâ.
