Singer-songwriter Brent Orndorff has created a unique original style which blends Rock, Blues, Folk & more. 6 MP3 Songs ROCK: Modern Rock, BLUES: Delta Style Details: The Blue News Project is the creation of Rock vocalist/songwriter Brent Orndorff. Orndorff's resume in music spans over a decade and includes a dinner invitation from Arista Records NY, studio sessions in the United Artists towers on Nashville's Music Row, as well as a solo performance in 2003 at the New York Independent Music & Film Festival. What began as a concept in 2004 has now grown into a distinctive jam band with 10+ members. The Blue News Project is more than a band. The Blue News Project is an experiment. Many of the members are solo artists or members of other bands as well and different players perform live or in the studio at different times. The style of original music delves into Rock, Blues, Pop, Funk, Alternative & Folk influences. This almost avant-garde approach gives each show and each studio track a unique edge and makes The Blue News Project one-of-a-kind group. Each song and performance features different musicians with diverse skills and approaches and it stands to reason because the style is diverse as well. Orndorff formed The Blue News Project after receiving a Recording Agreement from Statue Records Hollywood. The offer came after A&R at Statue heard Orndorff's self-produced solo album -Never Stop Playing- which was released in 2003. Many labels reviewed the album and offered release deals but Statue Records ultimately offered the best deal. In negotiations for the Agreement, Orndorff wanted to release a new album with a band, rather than re-releasing his solo album. This would take a lot of time and hard work, but it would prove worthwhile when it came to touring and recording. The original material for the debut album -Blue News- was written and recorded by Orndorff in the winter of 2004/2005. Then, by June of 2005, Orndorff began rehearsing the new songs with a trio. The group spent the rest of the year rehearsing, re-recording Orndorff's original rough mixes in the studio and performing for family and friends in their small hometown. The debut album -Blue News- was finished by December 2005 and sent to the label in Hollywood, CA & Statue Records then mastered and released the album in January of 2006. The group's first tour was planned to coincide with the January CD release and they performed in several cities in the Midwest including Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Nashville & St. Louis. Already, new songs were being written and a follow-up CD was imminent. The new songs came into being like an unstoppable force while rehearsing and jamming for various gigs at festivals and clubs. By the middle of 2006, there were enough new songs to start working on an EP. Producer Don Arney (Quantum Productions) offered to record the new EP in his Protools studio. At first, Orndorff began going into the studio alone to record his parts and then the other players would come in and do their parts at a later time. After a few weeks, Orndorff realized that it was time to expand The Blue New Project and it grew from a trio into an alliance of 10+ great musicians, many of whom are solo artists or in other bands. This would prove to be a great creative formula and the experiment was a hit. The diverse styles and backgrounds began to make each studio track unique, while Orndorff's signature sound brought it all together. The result is the upcoming EP, titled -The Signs-, which was released online on January 1, 2007. The CD is expected to be released by March of 2007, giving time to remix and re-master the songs & to prepare for publicity and radio promotion campaigns. 2006 also brought Bilmar Attractions, Inc. into the picture. Bilmar now handles booking, artist representation and public relations for The Blue News Project. Bilmar is involved in several large events in the Chicago area and beyond, including "Festival of the Lakes" which featured the band LIVE as one of the headline acts in 2006. The Blue News Project will open for a national band at the festival in the summer of 2007 in front of an estimated audience of 10,000 people. The Blue News Project will be touring to correspond with radio promotion and heavy publicity in 2007 and you can also catch Brent Orndorff playing some intimate acoustic gigs throughout 2007. in partnership with CDbaby User tags: Votes: Reviews: Review it!
