Rockabilly in it's truest form. Country "kicked up a notch". Don't listen to this in the car because you just can't dance in there. Your gonna tell all your friends and become "Rockit Heads" before you know it.

ROCK: Rockabilly, COUNTRY: Country Rock
Details:
Bo Porter started playing guitar at age six and by age seven was touring throughout the South with his father Reid Porter and his bluegrass band. In the 1950âs Boâs Dad Reid Porter had a band called The Dixie Playboys. If itâs musical heritage your looking for Bo definitely came by it honest. In his teens, he was onstage with the Panhandle Opry in Northwest Florida and by age 17, Bo was touring the country with his own country / rock band. He has appeared on stages from Dolly Wood to Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe', and his bands have opened for country artists including Doug Stone, Mark Chestnut, Joe Diffie.
Bo returned to the stage in 2003 with Bo Porter & B-Side Blues, which consisted of Bo, Robert Howard and several revolving Bass players. To celebrate his return to the music biz, Bo entered "Your Mare's Been Running Loose" in the 2003 APRN songwriter contest, where it has taken top honors in the Country Category. Bo also had the privilege of opening the show for The Nashville Underground at their Anchorage show; Chuck Cannon, Chuck Jones and Pam Rose were the song writers in the 2003 tour.
Summer of 2004 Bo cut a song on the Merry Christmas from Alaska #6 CD; the well known âSanta Claus is Coming to Townâ under the fictional band name Bo Porter & The Snowbillies.
In October of 2004 Bo and friends started recording the self titled CD for Bo Porter & The Dixie Rockits that released December 2005. Itâs been said that The Dixie Rockits are an irreverent band that unabashedly trashes his bluegrass and country roots while blending in rhythm and blues, Texas swing, surf, funk the true essence of Rockabilly. You can decide that for yourself.
If youâre wondering where the name Dixie Rockits came from hereâs the answer. Because Boâs Dad had a band called the Dixie Playboys, Bo and Ricky decided (with Dadâs permission) to use the Dixie part and thought Rockets sounded good. The usual spelling of Rockets didnât suit them though so it was decided that because their tendency to take an old country song and âRock Itâ up that they should become the Dixie Rockits, spelled accordingly.
