Details:
Three years ago, while singing with a praise team, they asked me to play the keyboard for them. All I knew were the chords and a few licks â that was about it. Nevertheless, they insisted, and so I played. From then til now, Iâve fallen in love with playing the piano and decided this year to share my passion with friends and family.
Over summer break, I picked out some of my favorite hymns from the Baptist hymnal and recorded them at leisure in my living room. As I worked on this project in my spare time, I kept hearing my grandfatherâs complaints about church repeating over in my mind, âNobody plays the old stuff anymore.â So, this album is for him, if for nobody else.
Although far from flawless, this album is from my heart. I really do enjoy the church hymns, even if Papa thinks heâs the only one! On some on them, I just played directly from the hymnal as written. On a few others, I included a little spin of my own. Nothing fancy, for sure; just a few simple reflections on the âold stuff.â
