Born and raised in the Philadelphia Area, Brett Ryan has embraced the inner underdog. At a very young age, with the passing of his father, his heart became both his crutch, and his enemy. He was then raised alone by his mother, who encouraged him to express himself through written word. It was this, along with his hereditary penchant for songwriting that led him to create music.
After several years performing and recording with a band, Stewart, 25, is releasing his Debut Solo Full Length Album, "NECESSARY LIES". The album features songs ranging from beautifully constructed melodious ballads of heartache to gritty, politically driven,"neck-hair raising" rockers such as "Yet Again", where Stewart asks, "Tell me when did all the world/ become ours to monitor/ Well it seems to me/ that nowadays/ we're only safe when we're asleep".
It should also be noted that Stewart records/produces all of his own material at his home studio. The release of "Necessary Lies" comes after several years of producing over 30 other artists of NUMEROUS genres, including folk, shoegazer, hard rock, hip-hop, childrenâs music, etc... In 2005 , he had the pleasure of producing National Recording Artist Will Webb for his sophomoric release, âRoom to Roomâ, which received critical acclaim, in both the U.S and in Europe.
All of these experiences inevitably led to the wide range of influences which are evident in this current release.
