Details:
âI really enjoyed listening to Bryan Wood's Melody of My Life. It's well-performed and beautifully produced. Bryan is obviously a thoughtful, sensitive songwriter with a big heart and a voice that connects to the emotions.â
â Minnesota Folk Singer/Songwriter Peter Mayer
Raised near the central Minnesota town of Sartell, Bryan got his start in music early. With his father making a living performing his own music, his mother teaching elementary music and piano lessons, and his brother studying voice, viola and piano, music was as much a part of life as breathing in the Wood household. Bryanâs introduction to playing began in kindergarten with the cello. Soon afterward he studied piano, receiving lessons from his grandmother. He also played percussion in the school bands and jazz bands and was a member of the renowned St. Johnâs Boyâs Choir. Bryan stayed active in school choirs through high school and while at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He didnât like playing and practicing early on and owes much to his parents for making him stick with music. âI didnât think it was cool to be playing piano and cello when other boys my age were playing football or video games,â Bryan says.
But music began to grow on Bryan and he found himself starting to play for fun as he got older. He first picked up a guitar in high school, and joined a rock band his senior year. But Bryan didnât really begin playing much until his parents bought him his own guitar as a high school graduation present. From there, he began composing and writing songs, a process very intimidating to him at first. But Bryan kept at it and songwriting became less daunting the more he tried. He began playing his acoustic music at open mikes and pubs in Duluth during college, sometimes solo, other times with musicians from his CD.
With the release of his first full length CD âMelody of My Life,â Bryan is looking forward to where his music will take him from here. Judging from his musical evolution up until this point, many more good things are yet to come from this talented young artist.
