Boris Popovich is originally from Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He started his music education at "Kosta Manojlovich" music school in Belgrade at the age of ten. First six years he studied piano and then he continued with flute as his main instrument for another five years. He was always praised as exceptionally talented; his tone is warm and full, and his technique superb.
Boris immigrated to the US in 1998 during the war in Yugoslavia and was granted political asylum. He started his flute making career at "Verne Q. Powell Flutes Inc." in Boston, after getting acquainted with the vice president Steven Finley, also an excellent flute player. He noticed Boris's talent and though that the company could train him to become a fine flute maker. Boris met his future wife Jean there. They got married in September 2003 and moved to Rumford, Maine where they are leading the arts community, organizing concerts and art festivals.
Jean and Boris started their own business: "Spiritual City Studios, LLC" teaching yoga and music, producing CD's, and multimedia shows about India's spiritual heritage.
