Born and raised in the small town of Camden, SC, Carey was weaned on 70's soul and Southern rock. That upbringing is evident in his new Cd "WHEELS". "WHEELSâ is straight out of the 70âs roots rock mould, organic sounding with song craft reminiscent of Jackson Browne and a grit and edge associated with an early Steve Earle record. Ever-present highway themes intermingle themselves with lyrical Southern Soul melodies, all narrated by Sims whiskey tinged baritone.

Recorded in both Carey's hometown of Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN, the Cd was produced by Carey and Jimmy Dulin and mixed by Patrick Boyd. The tracking began in early â06 with Andy Seets on guitar, Jim Brock (Kathy Mattea) on drums, Mark Stallings on B3 and piano, and renowned indie producer Don Dixon playing the role of both bandleader and bass player.

âWHEELSâ is highlighted by guest performances by: current Dixie Chicks former Black Crowes/Cry Of Love guitarist - Audley Freed, 70's era Linda Rondstat/James Taylor guitarist and pedal steel player - Dan Dugmore, Grand Funk Railroad's Tim Cashion, and a veritable whoâs who of the NC music scene most notably Jamie Hoover (The Spongetones), Dustin Hofsess (Greenlight), Rick Blackwell (Kathy Mattea), Stacey Leazer (Muscadine, New August), Jonathon Erickson (The Noises Ten), and Shana Blake (The Near Misses).
