âShades Of Meâ is simply that. A glimpse into the life of Chris Harley through emotional heart felt Rock N Roll. 10 original songs documenting a time in life known as 2006. This record is a great first outing for Chris as all the work was done by the author himself. Expect very melodic tones with a bitey attitude. The genre? Well thatâs hard to say since this kid is all over the place. Excellent guitar work with a Gilmourish metal feel at times.

The journey begins will âCreek Thoughtsâ, an acoustic instrumental set to the natural sounds of a flowing stream. I love how nature becomes a backing band for this record.

This continues on into âNew Endingâ which is very Celtic by nature. Appropriately to the lyrics âStaring out into this field of lifeâ.

Next, we are hit with the bluesy laid back beat of âThe Blackâ. This bitter blues fest carries you from the acoustic fields into a display of Chrisâs get down abilities.

âASydTicâ is a David Gilmour meets Jeff Beck instrumental tribute to the late Syd Barrett. Enough said.

âBats in the Atticâ is where the tables turn. Just when you thought you had this guy figured out, Wham! ***and I donât mean George Michael. Yes, the kid can play guitar.

Continuing with the spirit of Metal comes âYes Manâ. It sounds sort of like if you took GodSmack and but them around politics for a while. What would they say?

To ease the pain, we are given a groovy cry of love called âOle Girlâ. A sweet shout out to the lovelyâs that pass you by in life and why.

âCricket Hillâ is simply a staticy acoustic dance with the rain. An excellent breather after the assault of âBats in the Atticâ and âYes Manâ.

The record culminates with âMy Piece Of Groundâ. This tune has it all from melody to in your face rock to a tearing acoustic sweet spot. It is this point in the âShades of Meâ journey that the message becomes clear.

Finally, âDay Of Restâ. Another acoustic instrumental piece set to a choir of birds. A peaceful ending to a sweet and wild journey.
