Listeners agree that Charlie Phillips' songs cannot be categorized into genre. His musical influences - rooted primarily in rock, soul, folk, and blues - have been blended and distilled to create his eclectic style and fresh sound. From the blues-rock and reggae flavored "Preacherman" to the campfire folksiness of "Donny T", he draws from a pallet of musical colors creating a collage of songs which leave the listener eager to hear the next.


Charlie began writing songs in the early 1980s, honing his songwriting, arranging, production, and instrumental skills laying down tracks on his four-track reel-to-reel. He developed a knack for 'constructing' songs, allowing the texture of each song to evolve through experimenting with instrumentation and vocal harmony.

In 1999, Charlie's approach to songwriting shifted after attending a workshop facilitated by Jimmie Dale Gilmore at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York; Charlie began to 'own' his songs and bring them out of his home studio and to the public. Since the experience with Gilmore, Charlie makes it a practice to expand his writing through the kind of collaboration and creative exchange that develops working with other songwriters whose experiences are often quite divergent from his.

Charlie's love of performing stems from the interplay between his audience and him, and they are responding enthusiastically to his music.

Charlie continues to explore many musical and spiritual avenues, which bring him and his music closer to authenticity. Hence, the title of his debut album: "All Roads lead To Home". The album was recorded, produced, and mixed by Mike Driscoll at Indian Rock Records in Springfield, PA, and mastered by Phil Nicolo at Studio Four in Conshohocken, PA.
