Details:
Dan Cogell is a unique voice in American songwriting. His playing and songs are inventive and inviting.
He invents a variety of personalities for his songs, thus the listener is entertained as if reading a collection of short stories. This literary quality seduces the listener back again and again, as his songs contain multiple layers of meaning that invite several interpretations from the listener. His unique, versatile and expressive guitar playing fully complements the lyrical content of his songs.
Influenced by diverse players like Jerry Garcia and Mark Knopfler, Cogell manages to create a separate mood for each song, while remaining undeniably unique. Cogell is a superb player, one of the few solo guitarists that can seamlessly slip from rhythm to lead without losing momentum or feeling.

From the liner notes of Turn My Way:

âThese songs were recorded live in the studio. We just set up the mics and, over the course of several sessions, recorded these songs. There was no overdubbing and no punching in. In short, no fixes. What you hear is what happened. Imagine I wandered into your living room, sat down and played for you. Thatâs what I wanted to capture: an honest, undecorated performance of these stories set in the form of songs. I hope you enjoy them.â
