Dan Cray formed Beyond Id with drummer Jacques Lambert and bassist John Hunt (Five Head), in the early 90âs. They went through several line up changes that included Rod Murphy of My Brother Zebulon fame, and Sean Kineally of Somerville PD fame.
What started out as a post punk throwback to The Velvet Underground, found inspiration in the discord of early Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, and Buffalo Tomâs Birdbrain.
Throw in Tom Waits love of the ballad and Randy Newmanâs pre-Disney sarcasm, a dose of the Replacements debauchee honesty, and youâve got Dan Cray.
