CITIZEN JOE is known for their ability to bridge the bite of rock ân roll with the haunting sounds of folk and country music, while at the same time enveloping a story in every song. CITIZEN JOE music features original material on love, devotion, faith, and appreciation, without being over-sentimental.

CITIZEN JOE music has earned much-deserved praise and recognition from recording labels and studios, but more importantly from the bandâs diverse fans. With the release of their latest album âAMERICAâS SONâ, the band has become one of the fastest growing bands to come out of Southern California. CITIZEN JOE recordings are released on the bandâs independent record label, âAverage Joe Musicâ.

In addition to being the driving force behind CITIZEN JOE, founder and musician Kurtiss Lystne has authored most of the bandâs music and lyrics himself, including âAmericaâs Sonâ, a song written in gratitude to American soldiers serving overseas, as well as to our firefighters and police officers serving faithfully here at home; the inspirational song âMeâ, written after a chance run-in between Lystne and a man living on the streets of Southern California; and the devotional song âHush My Childâ, written by Lystne for his two young daughters â all on the bandâs latest album, âAMERICAâS SONâ.

Playing locally since 1991, âCITIZEN JOEâ learned their craft through hundreds of performances in large and small venues such as The House of Blues, The Galaxy Theatre, and The Coach House.
