Simona Premazzi, pianist and composer, grew up artistically in Milano, Italy.
She began to play the piano at nine and after graduating in classical studies in 1996, she began to love Afroamerican music and to get into the jazz music scene.
She studied at the prestigious âJazz Music Academyâ in Milano directed by Enrico Intra and Franco Cerri.
Among her teachers you find Enrico Intra, Franco DAndrea, Massimo Colombo, Paolo Birro, Antonio Farao.
She also attended many summer workshops -Siena Jazz, W Il Jazz, Nuoro Jazz, W il Jazz, Umbria Jazz Clinics- studying with Kenny Barron, Stefano Battaglia, Stefano Bollani.
She was given a scholarship as the best piano student during the âX Nuoro Jazzâ summer workshop in 1998.

During her student career she soon became part of the most interesting bands such as âMingus Fingersâ 7et, tribute to Charles Mingus, Enrico Intras âJazz Big Bandâ with whom she had been playing for four years, 1999 till 2003.
With this Big Band she performed on prestigious stages and theatres with great Italian and International musicians: Markus Stockhausen, David Raksin, Franco Cerri, James Newton, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Dave Liebman, Eddie Daniels, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Tony Arco, Lucio Terzano, Marco Vaggi, Roberto Rossi and many others.
She exhibited in several Jazz Festivals all around Italy: Break in Jazz, Iseo Jazz, Festa di Rifondazione, Notti in Villa Litta, Orchestre Senza Confine, Jammin in the Garden, Brianza Open Jazz Spring Festival, Lago Maggiore Jazz Festival, VOJ Varese Open Jazz Festival, Bitter Sweet Jazz Festival, Arcore in Jazz, Libyssonis Jazzâ¦
She has been an active musician on the scene and an interesting composer for several years, performing both as a leader and as a side member.

She went to New York a first time in November 2003. Here she studied with Fred Hersch, Jason Moran and Jean Michel Pilc.
She moved to New York in September 2004 and began soon to work regularly in jazz clubs such as Kavehaz, Louis 649, Cleopatras Needle, Fat Cat, Sweet Rhythm, Smalls, Garage, Copelands, St. Peters Church, Trumpets Jazz Club, Jules Bistro, Detour, Brooklyn University, Cajun Jazz Restaurant, Creole, Orbits, Night & Day, Sofias.
In February 2005 her 4et appeared on the television documentary âSounds Of Harlemâ for CBS.
In May 2005 she toured in Fayetteville (Arkansas).
