Born in Swiftown, Mississippi. Prince Jesse began to sing at an early age. His Grandmother was very influential to him continue in his singing career. She allowed him to sing at Church Functions and some of their family affairs in their hometown.
In 1959, he left Mississippi and came to Chicago, Illinois. During this, he became an ardent fan of James Brown. He learned, practiced, and emulated his movements,style of performance,and showmanship.
Prince Jesse were first introduced to Stage work by John Grayson of The Johnny and Roulettes singing group. In 1966, He did his first actual paid performance at a place called "The El Grato Lounge ", in Battle Creek, Michigan, with a group put together by John Grayson called "the Nite Owls". In 1967, he joined another group called "Lil Johnny and the CQ's". In 1968, he went Solo and did his first solo act with "The King Earnest Baker's Band" and "The Soul Swingers Band" of Howard Scott and Reggie Stone. In 1969, Jesse was Crowned the Prince of R&B by King Earnest, Bobby Rush,and Johnny Williams at the Baby Grand Lounge,in Chicago. During this time, he performed in local places, such as, "Bill Street Lounge,Bonanza Lounge,Guys and Gals Lounge,and The Green Bunny Lounge. He performed with Recording Stars such as Otis Clay, Garland Green, Alvin Cash, Ruby Andrews, Holly Maxwell, Johnny Wayne, Lil Junior Wells.
Under the management of Mr. Matthews " Mack " Sanders, he recorded such songs as " I Got A Love ", Trapped By Two Lovers ", and Pain of love ".
In 1977,Prince Jesse left Show Biz to pursue another kind of lifestyle. However, in 1997 he returned and joined "The Johnny Wayne Show" and Mr. Pete Allen. In the same year, Mr. Mel Collins was his Mangerand were responsible for putting him in the Chicago Blues Archieves. In 1999-2000, he went on tour on the West Coast Bay Tour in California by ERM Productions Co.
