Randy's songs have been described as "the sexy, bastard progeny of Elvis Costello and Townes Van Zandt -- literate, emotional and packing an undeniable one-two melodic punch."
12 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Country Rock, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
Randyâs cinematic writing style grew out of his innate psychoses and was aggravated by his training as an actor in college. After graduating he worked construction by day in Cleveland, Ohio, while gathering a nighttime education in timeless music, playing with the most respected roots music players in the region. Upon moving to Los Angeles in the late 90's Randy formed Randy Sacks & The Holy Rollers, primarily an alt-country and blues outfit at the time, and spent several years playing all over California and gathering material for his self-released live CD, The Holy Rollers Do Hollywood. Randyâs time on the road as a TV producer for Bands On The Run, rekindled his pop-rock fantasy and gave his sound an electric B-12 shot in the arm. After meeting young guitar-icon-to-be David Green, (fresh out of college and off the road with the Tijuana Bibles), and bass guru Mark Goldberg, the sound, an instinctive mix of roots rock, country and Americana, fell into place.
Against this backdrop, âBrother Randallâsâ lyrics parade an assortment of odd characters, life stories and murder ballads. In the tradition of Tom Waits, Gram Parsons and Elvis Costello, the musical style fluctuates, but the writerâs voice is constant.
