Pianist Rene Gerard is a native of St.John's Newfoundland.
After studying the recording arts in Toronto Canada,
He has gone on to being a sound track and jingle composer for television and radio.

This musical offering is an homage to the great music of his homeland. The nation of Newfoundland.

At the time of creation of most of these melodies,
Newfoundland was indeed a territory of it's own.
During the seventeen and eighteen hundreds Newfoundland
was either a territory of the British Empire,or a
self run State.

These folk melodies had many different lyrics written to them, dipicting the times of which people lived.

This CD is a twenty first century rendtion of these
classic melodies.

This collection is a must for every Newfoundlander's
music collection because of the unique interpatation.
