User tags: rock 60 s, rock progressive, mp3 album
Although The River Company's style is best described as progressive southern indie rock, this CD is more of an exploration of their acoustic, slower, but upbeat, songwriting capabilities.
7 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 60's Rock, ROCK: Progressive Rock
Details:
"Elements of witty wordplay and catchy hooks make this CD worth purchasing: the happy rhythms (and backward guitar intro) of "Here to Stay," the jazz-flavored "To Be The Moon" and the energetic drumming and guitar work on the two live songs." - from "The River Company's New CD Worthwhile" by Ricky Flake of The Sun Herald (Biloxi, MS)
The River Company is a rock band based out of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The members of the band, brothers Alex Scharr (bass, vocals) and Travis Scharr (guitar, vocals), Jamie Favors (guitar), Bradley Dale (percussion, keys, guitar) and Clay Bates (drums, guitar) have been playing in bands together for the past five years. Being from Mississippi, The River Company does not neglect the blues element of rock in their music. Influenced heavily by the music of The Beatles, Rush, Cream, and Porcupine Tree, as well as the artists which surround them locally, The River Company creates a mixture of blues, progressive, and indie-rock styles that seems to fit them quite well.
The River Company has gained notoriety in their region by opening for bands such as The Charlie Daniels Band and REO Speedwagon at the Biloxi Crawfish Festival. They have also put on several sold-out benefit concerts under the name The Un'Beatle'bles as a tribute to one of their biggest influences, The Beatles.
Requiem for Ghostcar was recorded at Loyola University New Orleans Recording Studio(Vital Sounds) and was engineered and co-produced by Hap Hinners.
