RICHARD TSION LAHMY
"...I have written and composed many songs over the years and played
them in small cafes and the occasional festivals. I started to play folk music in the late sixties.
While on a trip to Europe in the seventies I became a street musician, busking my way from
England to Greece. I continued in that trade upon my return to Montreal in nineteen eighty.
I became one of the very first metro musicians.
I stopped playing in the metro in nineteen eighty four and for the next ten years I played in
such cultural events as "Gesture for Peace", the" Mile End Coffee House"and the "Yellow Door Coffee House".
In nineteen ninety four I formed a band called "Sometime in June" with saxophonist Mike Freed.
The songs evolved in a jazz vein. We played several small festivals over the next ten years.
I am currently in something called "Les Chemins De La Joie", named after one of my songs. The lead guitarist is
from West Africa, the drummer comes from Sicily, and the bass player has Spanish origins. The sound is very world
beat with a Montreal flavor. We have been playing downtown in such places as L'Alyzee,Les Bobards, and Le Balattou..."
