Details:
Connected to the music scene at birth in Nashville, Tennessee, Rose Moore was eight years old when she began formal music training at MacPhail Music Conservatory in Minneapolis, Minnesota where her family moved shortly after she was born.
Growing up in Minnesota, Rose spent the next ten years training in classical piano, moving to guitar and voice, then later majoring in music theory and composition at the University of Minnesota, all of which directed her onto a professional recording career with the release of several indie CDs as the artist, "Cherokee Rose".
Most notably, her second indie release "Love Medicine Music" took the 2000 Crossroads National Music Gold Award as Best Native American Recording, and won Best New Age Album at the 2001 New Mexico Music Awards.
When Virgin Records created Back Porch, a label to showcase American roots music in the late 90âs, they went looking for artists who were taking the traditions of country, folk and blues in new directions. One of their discoveries was Rose Moore. Her song "Yipi" was one of the most compelling tracks on the "I-10 Chronicles", the anthology that launched the new label.
In 1998, Rose recorded a re-mix for Virgin Records of the song "Dawa" from the international hit CD "Sacred Spirits".
Millions of record buyers around the world were already familiar with her soulfully serene vocal style from the "Pure Moods II" release that same year.
Additional work on "Sacred Spirits II" led to a collaboration with producer The Brave that resulted in the release of her CD "Spirit of Silence" on the Higher Octave record label in 2002. "Spirit of Silence" is now in distribution through Virgin-EMI Germany.
Fresh from an appearance at WOMAD in 2004, Rose began recording with London music producer Nick Hogarth of Hogarth Music, London, UK. Incorporating world rhythms into her formidable lyrical and melodic creations, she teamed with Barcelona producer Marcel Graell in 2006 to complete her new CD entitled âYou Will Flyâ.
"You Will Fly" represents three years worth of songwriting and composing for Rose. Branching out from her traditional new age vocal styling, this CD is full of surprises as the songs take us through standard pop fare with a twist to stunning world infused compositions.
