The music of R. Scott is a unique mix of deep soul, New Orleans-style r&b, jazz, blues, cabaret and pop styles forging a sound of its own - keyboard based and horn heavy(!). Scott has worked with a roster of artists, musicians, vocalists that has been evolving since 1995. Staying prolific with an eclectic string of releases with groups West Coast Harem (jazz/funk), The Redd Foxx BBQ (lounge), OO Soul (latin/funk) and The Helmut Stein Experience (soul/blues) to his credit, his current release - Snake Oil Elixir - is his first as a solo artist.
Snake Oil Elixir was originally conceived as a "Mock Opera Musical". It is presented here in the classic "LP" form -not a concept album but a 10-song cycle using music to reflect the American landscape. Mixing dark humor, raunch and a touch of the macabre Scott tells lyrical tales of sin, soul and salvation.
