Details:
Don Scott, a Minnesota native and disabled Vietnam Veteran, has been playing blues in one form or another for the last 36 years. In 1971 Don started The Dust Bowl Blues Band and has shared the stage with many blues greats at clubs and festivals throughout the US. For the past ten years he has been performing solo, appearing in the Midwest and the Southwest, as well as Europe. In 2000 Scott was invited to France for dates in Paris and Tregastel on the Brittany coast. He returned there the next two years for several well-received shows . Don has written many original tunes featured on his three self-produced albums. His debut CD, âHighway 52â, was nominated in 1997 for the Minnesota Music Awards best blues album. His second CD released in 1999, âScottyâs Bluesâ, was recorded in Tucson and favorably reviewed in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and The Tucson Blues News. Don currently resides in Los Angeles and has just finished his third CD, âSome Other Dayâ. This CD received a very nice review in The Southland Blues in July, 2006. The current CD features four original tunes and chestnuts from TâBone Walker, Count Basie, Big Bill Broonzy and Brownie McGhee, some of his main influences.
âThe more I listen the more I like itâ
Blues Review â Ed Ivy, review of Highway 52
âAcoustic blues at its best, Scott is most accomplished in finger picking stylesâ
Tucson Blues News â Marty Kool
âScottâs blues swing! There is a lived-in quality to his music, no rehash of a tired old form.â
Minneapolis Star Tribune â Tom Surowicz, review of Scottyâs Blues
âHe sings about the way things ought to be and the forces that make it otherwise. The approach is timeless.â
