ABOUT SHEP MEYERS
Shep Meyers is a pianist, conductor, composer and arranger, from New York City, who has been living in San Diego, California for the past thirty years. His impressive list of credits include recording with Ella Fitzgerald, and playing with other musical greats such as Woody Herman, Billy Daniels, Julie London, Terry Gibbs, and Anita O'Day, as well as playing for comedians Lenny Bruce, Steve Allen, Redd Foxx, and Henny Youngman. Shep served as conductor for comedian George Burns, and for Johnny Carson at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas.
SHEP'S NOTES
During my musical career, I have been blessed with so many wonderful recording opportunities where I composed, arranged, conducted and played Music in so many different and interesting contexts--all with some of the finest musicians in the world. This CD, âSOLO THOUGHTSâ, was the first time I ever recorded alone with no one else in the studio except the recording engineer.
VERY INTIMIDATING!!! ......."OK, Shep, hereâs a piano. Now sit down and play an hourâs worth of Music and make sure itâs interesting." So I sat down to play- -no earphones, no slating the tunes, no punch-in edits, no ten takes on every tune--just did it the same way if I were playing in my living room, and in that light, I just picked 16 tunes that came into my mind at the time.
