Shuutobi is an alias of American musician/sound designer and producer, Ryan V. Jaeger.

At the age of 13 he entered the musical realm, picking up various instruments including the guitar and bass. Eventually this led him to play guitar in various heavy experimental bands, opening for national acts such as Mastodon, Amen, and Nothingface. Each had their fair share of good runs, unfortunately nothing ever amounted to anything worthwhile.

In 2003 he decided to take a stab at the world of sound design for interactive media. Learning everything he could about the trade, he honed his skills until the time was right to take on a project. The following year he volunteered to design sound effects for the CCDG (Clancore Design Group) who were working on a PC game title StarSiege:2845.

Two long years had past and he started producing music again, only this time he was determined to do everything by himself. Being very enthusiastic about DIY ethic, he decided that he wanted to release his music on his own label. Soon after he founded Dephonic Records...

Shuutobi describes his current music as experimental, mid to down-tempo electronica, laced with minimal textures and IDM elements.
