Sheila Stone sees herself as equal parts singer and writer. Consistent writing is the development of the last five years. She credits the music of Ryan Adams for her writing inspiration She also credits anyone who has ever put a song on paper or put it into the air with their voice or other instrument. âWe are all in debt to every other musicianâ she says. Specific artists include Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Hank Williams, Ian Tyson and the usual, âtoo many others to begin list.

Her music contains blues, folk, and jazz inflections and the melodic impulses of the romantic 30âs and 40âs tunes.

Sheila Stone started performing as a child: âI was singing solo in church, just me and the organist in the balcony in grade school and I guess I just kept going. Eventually I came to the place where I consistently wanted my own songs.â

Ms. Stone has issued two discs previously, Skyâs The Limit - Part I, and Photographic Heart

Ms. Stone is currently working on a full length disc, River Stones, to be completed in the Spring of 2007. She is releasing three songs from that disc, âThree from River Stonesâ on a separate disc.
