I was born Gage Brandon Caldwell on October 27th 1975. My mother is first generation Italian, and my father is Scotch/Irish. I was born in Rahway, NJ and grew up in the neighboring town Avenel. When my parents split, I was only 4 and then eventually moved with my Mom to an apartment with her then boyfriend. The boyfriend and I didnât get along as one would imagine, but thanks to him, I wouldnât be the artist I am today. I was constantly in trouble so I spent many, many hours in my room. Afraid to anger my ânewâ stepfather I needed an outlet to express my feelings. I started writing poetry at age 13 which helped me out emotionally and physically. I say physically because my stepfather was an angry drunk and all I can say is that no teenager should have had DYFS interviews. So I stayed with the poetry and one day as I was writing I was listening to an LL Cool Jay album, and next thing I knew I was writing rap songs instead of poems. I kept this to myself for quite awhile because it was hard to fit in already as a white kid in a predominantly minority neighborhood. The kids from my buildings probably would have laughed and it was bad enough my white friends would make fun of me for rockinâ airbrushed jeans and hoodies to school. It was all good though, I just kept writing and kept getting better at my craft. I would start to Deejay house parties and me and a few of my boys would freestyle. This led to no where fast but then opportunity knocked on my door,,,well, actually my boyâs door really. In 1994 two of my friends had made a demo tape and one of there Momâs friends worked at Epic. He wanted to give them a deal. This would work for me because I wrote practically 85 of there rhymes. The deal did eventually fall through because the contract was bogus and that hit me hard. I thought we were going to make it big and then I just gave up. I wouldnât start writing rhymes again until 1998. At this time Iâm about to be a husband and a father. I had PLENTY to write about. As I wrote more, I started getting into the production side of things in 2000. I was going to just use music as an outlet once again to express myself, but after many friend and friend of friends encouraging me to take the next step, I have been steadily working hard and hoping to get into the business as an artist and/or producer. In the summer of 2006 I will be releasing my solo debut from my Production Company âLast Son Productionsâ. The album will be entitled âImmaculate Deceptionâ and it has producers from literally all over the globe lending a helping hand.
