âSix years old, scooched up on my knees in the back seat of my dadâs â56 Chevy, my hand cupped over my ear to hear Fats Domino, Jimmy Dean, and Johnny Cash through the tinny little speaker. My uncle had a jukebox route, driving up and down Oregon putting the latest 45s into taverns, diners, and pool halls, giving me the ones he pulled out. I played them on the red cardboard record player he gave me. A little while later I started playing the guitar, and a little while after that I started writing songs. Four or five little whiles after that, I made this CD with my producer friend Dean Prescott. I hope you like it.â

Steve has lived on the central Oregon desert all his life. His great grandparents and grandparents homesteaded here at the turn of the last century. Even though the old folks finally starved out and moved to town, itâs the open sky and scent of juniper that give Steve his sense of home.
