This album marks the culmination of a period of time in my life of great uncertainty and change. I suppose the split with my life-long partner, almost all my family, and nearly all my friends inspired this music, with such a depth of intensity. The demise took me by total surprise - just when I was flying so high! Anyway, the upshot was this album - a landmark to that extremely human condition we call suffering. I wrote the songs over 4 years, but mostly during early 2006. The poignancy reflects a very profound sense of sadness, but ultimately - the ever-transcendent quality of the human spirit.
