About Hibernation:
Well, if you ask me what music this exactly is supposed to be â I canât really tell you since Iâm not sure myself :) Iâve recorded Hibernation over the past three years and like most people I tend to shift in my musical favourites what of course influences whatever Iâm working on at the time. Styles move from club-beats to nu-jazz spiced up with tons of arpeggiators and layers giving it an electronica and ambient flavour. However, I believe there is a red line throughout the album holding it together. Basically the recording of Hibernation was my personal experience of finding a way to combine electronic music and typical jazz, funk and rock guitar in a well balanced sound and musical arrangement â and believe me, due to the contrary nature of these two sound worlds that sometimes was quite a challenge. On the other hand Iâve latterly raped my gooâ olâ sixstrings with all sorts of processor-units and plug-inâs so you can hardly identify them as guitars. About Sunsailor:
Born 1974 in Salzburg/Austria Roland Hametner started playing the guitar in 1988 at the age of 14. Five years of insane practicing finally opened him the doors to Hollywoodâs Musicians Institute where he studied guitar and popular music in 1993/94 and continued his studies at the Vienna Conservatory up to 1996. During that time he deeply got involved with production music and has placed tracks for audio-visual synchronization to some of Europeâs most well known TV-broadcasters.
In 1998 he set up his own recording studio near Salzburg and worked as a producer for several years. During this time he also recorded his debut-album âScit Scat Wah â Main Attractionâ on caloris-music featuring a Funk-Rock performance. In 2001 Roland moved to Berlin where he got in contact with a wide range of electronic music and continued producing sync-music for the broadcasting industry. 2007 finally brings up his Sunsailor project releasing Hibernation â a reflection of Berlinâs electronic-scene mixed with smooth-jazz and rock-vibes.
