Related styles: Country: Old-Timey, Folk: Appalachian Folk, Type: Acoustic
People who are interested in Gillian Welch Hazel Dickens should consider this download.
Details:
Featuring the best musicians that I know: Glenn Patterson, Terry Joe Rodrigues, Danielle Lebeau Petersen, Michael Hall, David Dixon, John McCabe, Leah Dolgoy, Marie Laure Beaudreau and Pat Loiselle.
I wrote these songs and had the wonderful fortune of having these great people to play them with. They all did it because they love the songs too! Imagine.
Carolina Heaven - Where heaven meets the highway. I think you'll be humming this one around the house. Where I spend one month each year with my feet up on my deck over looking the ocean in Folly Beach.
Crepe Myrtle - The beautiful tree outside my window. I think this might be how it really got it's name. This was the first song that I wrote in 2009 while walking down the beach. Wanted my very own song of murder or unrequited love. Added Leah's beautiful autoharp here.
Blue Ridge Lullaby - Just a simple song to take you to the mountains. Enjoy!
Guyandotte - Two small children take the day to run off to the river away from the scene of misery and sadness at the mine where the townsfolk await news of their loved ones.
End of the Show - Don't you want me there beside you? Added a cajun sound here with the lovely Marie Laure on accordion.
Tennessee - Terry Joe likes this song and it is evident by his playing! Thanks TJ.
The Wreck of the Lucy Walker - The true story of the boat of Rich Joe Vann. We were on stage at Apple Hollow last summer and I was talking about the song, Glenn said "That should be the title of the CD" , ok by me! **There is an error on the song. I should say "Down the Arkansas" not "Down in Arkansas". Only mentioning it here.
Little Piece of Wood - Inspired by Glenn and his beautiful fiddle. Didn't know much about the fiddle before I heard him play. I play it myself now (or trying). Your amazing Glenn. **Check out the fiddle tune after the song - Called "Feed my Horse Corn and Hay" but Buddy Thomas. Good song.
When I Grow Too Old To Dream - My fathers favourite song that he used to sing to me as a child.
By the Mark - Gillian and Dave - WOA. What else to say about his song. I hope you like the arrangement.
I hope that you enjoy this album. I would like to extend a special thanks to Terry Joe and John. I love you and thank you for everything.
