Pure rock with a message -- thatâs what Camino al Sol, Tango36âs highly anticipated album debut is. The album, being launched by Circo/Sony-BMG on November 14, 2006, includes 11 songs and a bonus track, and was recorded at Kokepelli Studio by renowned engineer Keith Morrison of KMM Group and produced in New York by Push Musicâs Greg Wiktorski and Tango36. Tango36 was formed in 1991 in Miami, Florida by drummer and backup singer Carlos Garcia-Menocal, guitarist Jorge Garcia and lead singer Jorge Delgado. Tango36 was finally completed when guitarist Daniel Lazo and bass player Ricardo Bigai joined the lineup. This combination proved effective as it added the final ingredient for Tango36 to achieve its signature sound. Known as one of Miamiâs most popular âRock en Españolâ bands, Tango36 is Rock nâ Roll which happens to be sung in Spanish. The dictionary defines rock nâ roll as âa form of popular music arising from and incorporating a vari-ety of musical styles,â and Tango36 exemplifies this definition. Tango is the combination of various musical styles brought in by its membersâ diverse musical, cultural and educational backgrounds. Joined together, you have a for-mula for rock nâ roll that transcends any language. This is evident in their fans âit is not uncommon to find non-Spanish speakers in the audience at their live performances- as well as the bands they have been invited to play along side of, Three Doors Down and Godsmack, for example, with whom they shared a stage at Zetaâs Banzai Fes-tival in April of 2003. In its short but impressive career, Tango36 has also performed with Grammy winners and international acts such as Aterciopelados, Bacilos, Cabas, Los Rabanes, La Secta All Star, Volumen Cero, Los de Adentro, and Jorge Correa, to name a few. They have been featured in internationally-televised programs in Mun2 and in shows like Vidavisionâs Rock Total and Telemundoâs Primera Edicion. In 2004 they were voted the Best Latin Rock Band by the readers of the Miami New Times in its annual âBest of Mi-amiâ publication; lead singer Jorge Delgado was also chosen as the Best Male Rock Vocalist. Tango36 is already gaining international recognition and steadily amassing a remarkable following. Their website (www.tango36.com), has enabled fans all over the world to hear their music and keep current with the bandâs upcom-ing performances and news. The most anticipated being the release of its debut album, Camino al Sol. Camino al Sol is the well-deserved product of a long journey that according to the members of the band was at times like a game of chess, where everything was pending on the moves of certain pieces. Changes in the label in-dustry postponed the original launching, but far from being hurt by it, new ideas, songs and a whole new level of ex-citement came into play. The new arrangements gave a whole different feel to the original tracks, new songs were added and different managers and producers entered the project. âWe think that everything can be improved, even when we play live every song has a different feel to it and that same feeling can be appreciate it in the album.â âCamino al Sol is a most appropriate title since the relationship between [all the band members] has been a learning experience. For some time the album had a different name, but the current title says it all: what we have gone through, what we are, and what has brought us here,â they say. Vaquero, the first single to go on promotion, was born from a conversation about a modern Don Quixote in search for a long lost love, explains Delgado. âThe conversation turned into a song, but the reality is that the character in the song is not a knight but rather a homeless guy who wanders around downtown Miami with his dog,â adds Garcia-Menocal. âQuien Soy came about in a moment where we felt as if we kept crashing into walls; itâs like a prayer questioning why we are here. The song Camino al Sol has a certain irony to it, it talks about what happens to couples who at the be-ginning share the same ideals and then go on separate paths.â Although influences are diverse and many (U2, Led Zeppellin, Soda Stereo, The Police, The Smiths, Stone Temple Pilots, Dave Mathews Band, La Ley, among others), and the lineage of Tango36 can be found in Anglo rock of the late 70âs, 80âs and 90âs, their melodies and lyrics are true to the bandâs Hispanic heritage. The term âRock Alterlatinoâ was recently coined to refer to alternative rock bands whose songs are written in Spanish. To pigeonhole this band into that category seems unfair. Their sound is bigger, richer, better. It is the culmination of five talented musicians and everything that has brought them together. Itâs rock nâ roll to its core. in partnership with CDbaby User tags: Votes: Reviews: Review it! (This product has no reviews yet) |
