TOPHEAVY's "mighty pop" broke into the Boston music scene using a combination of energetic guitar riffs, hook-laden melodies, and a driving rhythm section for their up-tempo rock songs. TOPHEAVY has rocked the stages of various clubs throughout the Northeastern U.S., especially New England's top venues, including The Middle East Club, T.T. the Bear's, Bill's Bar, Pearl Street Nightclub, and the Webster Underground, to name only a few!
TOPHEAVY's brand of rock has graced the airwaves of MA, NY, CT, DC, along with international radio exposure in Europe, Australia, and South America. In 2003 TOPHEAVY was selected (out of over 2,500 contestants) as one of the TOP 50 unsigned bands in the USA, to compete for the Coca-Cola sponsored/American Music Awards "New Music Award." Four of the songs from TOPHEAVY's LoveDrunk cd garnered honorable mentions in the 2004 Billboard Songwriting Competition.
TOPHEAVY, comprised of Chris Wagner(vocals/guitar), Mike Martino(drums, vocals), and Corey Buckingham (bass), has become the definitive line-up for the band and as 2007 unfolds, TOPHEAVY shows no sign of slowing down. Increased interstate club and college touring and recording a new cd in early 2007 are just the start of the band's plans!

If you like the pop-rock genre bands like Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, and Cheap Trick, you´ll definitely like these guys! I picked up this cd when I saw them play in DC a few months ago...and it´s catchy and has some really cool tunes! I especially like Julie Says and Down...and the band was pretty rockin´ live. Check it out. Apparently this band is due to release a new cd soon, I´ll probably check that out too.
