TruMac, born Truman Hopkins, is the third of eight children. He was raised by his grandmother, after drugs took control of his motherâs life, on the Westside of Las Vegas. Living in a city where tourism is the bread and butter, most focus is placed on the fast pace, high profile âStripâ lifestyle. TruMac plans to give the world a realistic view of what goes on in his â24 Hourâ hometown.

It was the summer of â99 when TruMac and his partners decided to form an independent record label. Out of the five of them, two were to be the labelâs lead artists, two were supposed to scout talent and head the street team, and TruMac would oversee all of the labelâs business dealings. Over the two and a half years they were together, TruMacâs goals were to stay behind the scenes, market the label, and put his artists in the spotlight. He was successful in doing this by booking shows, putting together the marketing for one of the artist lead singles, and even co-producing the track for the B Side of that single. âThings just didnât go the way they were supposed toâ, TruMac says of his former endeavor. âBut since Iâve been into hip hop, I have loved it for the art form, and after this situation, doing the business and learning the industry game, it made me say donât depend on nobody, do it yourselfâ. And thatâs exactly what he did.

In the fall of 2002 TruMac formed Immaculate Productions Music Company (IPMC). âSupreme is one of the few people that I dealt with at that time. She was always like, Mac you got this, the balls in your courtâ. Supreme is an Artist Manager/PR Specialists in Las Vegas. TruMac credits her for assisting in his transition from businessman to emcee. âShe would always tell me that with my marketing and business genius coupled with my high standard for lyrics, there was no way I couldnât blowâ. âThat couldâve been some high octane she was selling me, but I definitely bought itâ. But when you get a look at where TruMac is today you have to wonder, was it gas she was selling or truth she was telling?

Since 2002 TruMac has released two singles, his installment of âKill Bill Mixtapesâ Volumes 1 and 2, and his newest mixtape release, âLights Outâ Volume 1. He has also performed in Las Vegas at UFC after parties, on Mission Beach in San Diego, and a number of times in Billings and Missoula, Montana, where he opened up for E-40. âRight now itâs all about âStreet Seminarââ, says TruMac, itâs my best work to date, itâs all meâ. The album features Doe Mill$ and Eazy Rocc, two IPMC affiliated artists. âDoe has been with me since early 2003â, TruMac explains. âHis older brother Montana gave me the nickname TruMac when we were in the ninth grade. Mill$ is like my liâl brother, he has his own label, Vegas Citi Records that I am helping him put together. We will be releasing his album as a joint venture by summer â07â. âMy real liâl brother Young Don Juan, A&R for IPMC, hooked me up with Eazy Rocc. Eazy spits for real and got that piff on the beats. We signed him early in â06 he did like half my album and I recorded it at his houseâ. The album also features production by Fresco, LoE, Certified, RaMon, and Bay Area legend J. Deville aka Johnny Z. âFresco and LoE have been my homeboys since high school and since Iâve been doing this they have always been supportive. Johnny Z was extremely helpful on this project. He did tracks, let me record at his house, mixed the album, and hooked me up with Greg Forsberg at Supa Slump Masters to master the joint for meâ.


And the new album is sizzling. TruMac crafts unmatched lyrics over banging tracks. The lead singles âRollinââ and âRock Slowâ, both produced by LoE, are making noise in the streets and over the internet. TruMac describes his music as âreal hip hop West Side styleâ. âIt sounds like no one else. Pure authentic lyricism over hot instrumentalsâ. He credits Run DMC, Ice Cube, 2 Pac, Snoop, Common, Nas, Jay-Z and Malcolm X as his influences. His other interest is real estate. He has been a licensed Realtor for nearly four years and he is also a licensed mortgage broker. âI plan to be the first Hip Hop/Real Estate Mogul,â he says convincingly. TruMac says that he âjust wants to bring the essence of hip hop back and put Las Vegas on the mapâ. âIf my music can put just a small spotlight on my city for culture not casinos, I felt like I did my jobâ.
