Julia and the Unexpecteds is an ever-changing acoustic band that came together in Colorado Springs in fall 2005. We range from a three piece band to a six piece, depending on the venue at which we perform. This is our debut CD, but we are now working on the next two. This CD was recorded in a live-room setting in less than eight hours. It captures some of Julia's earliest writings. The sound is heavily influenced by her cross-country travels and is therefore cross-genre. Lucian Rowland, lead guitarist and core member of the band, adds his own decades of experience to the project. He also plays mando, bass, lap steel, banjo, and harmonica; this ensures unexpected arrangements!
We've been told time and again that we are waaaay sultry live. We like to keep people on their toes so in a way, it was difficult to record. I'm not sure that all of what we are can be captured on a CD, but we are completely psyched to have one and hope that you enjoy it!
