ROCK: Instrumental Rock, JAZZ: Weird Jazz
Details:
Viben Oodle are a three piece band who can sound as full as an orchestra. They create both original, energetic, dancable grooves, and music which will make you gasp. These young musicians are masters of their craft.
The Music
The use of imagery and texture. Imagine stepping inside the theater: itâs that feeling â itâs poignant, itâs expressive, itâs exciting. Our music is more than just notes, itâs cinematic.
Our craft is story, conjured and cast from humor, and our audience relationship is most important. Everyone has expectations, but the best part of life is surprise â finding something new that one hasnât formed expectations about.
Viben Oodleâs music is full of extraordinary surprises. Each player seconds on at least one other
instrument. With these options the musical textures are practically infinite.
Textures are important ingredients in the soup of music. Thatâs why two of the trio use Boss RC-20 looping stations in new and unique ways. It could be to build a mountain of texture, to climax a story, to chill on a groove, or even solo over a solo. Improvisation is the human element. Itâs what makes the soup taste homemade.
Every time the ingredients in the storytelling process change to form new and imaginatively different versions of songs. Each of the trio constantly finds new ways of looking at old concepts while discovering truths of his own. We love fun and love to involve others in it.
And the audience loves it, demonstrated by Viben Oodle's large and ever-growing fan base. We have been playing regularly for years, dedicated to winning the loyalty of the listeners.
Josh: Sax
I blow this horn of mine into a microphone which is daisy chained to a looping station and some effects to make the band sound more dynamic and textured. I started playing the sax at ten years old, in my living room, where my teacher said I had the sensual lips of a sax man. Around 12 years of age, I picked up the guitar and produced my first self-entitled record. It was an instant success in my high school; all 50 people enjoyed it. Continuing my interest in music, I joined the Virginia Tech Jazz Orchestra. It was there that I met Andy Woodward who had known Parker Simmons from a random drum encounter, and thus Viben Oodle mas born. Be afraid. Be very very afraid.
Parker: Drums
My name is Parker Simmons and I am a multi-instrumentalist (bagpipes, drums, percussion, saxophone, and other reed instruments). Since the age of nine I have had regular experience performing music for audiences ranging from thousands people to as few as a single person. I have performed all contemporary and archaic music styles in ensembles from more than one hundred people to as few as three. Be it overseas in buildings as old as classical music or in your local down-and-dirty dive bar sporting a pair of drumsticks and a sweat towel, I have performed. Public events, ceremonies, weddings, and funerals; I have performed these many times. I love playing any style of music, anywhere.
Andy: Bass
Composer, producer, bassist, and entrepreneur. I own the successful Misconstroodle Records and am seasoned in and familiar with the subtle nuances of the music industry. The bass has a certain allure that only Viben Oodle can make apparent. That is, I have played with over 10 groups and ensembles over the years, and with as many as five simultaneously, but only through Viben Oodle can we play any style; nothing is off limits, and this frees the music. As one gets older he realizes that music isn't about notes or even dynamics: it's about emotion. The most important aspect of my playing is the conveyance of emotion, be it sweet, sad, or greasy. And only through rigorous performance can I hone in on this important kernel of truth.
