Vivid Curve is a band that is truly like to other. In this, their first studio release, the modern-tribal didgeridoo (performed by the Urban Shaman, Jeff Cooper) is applied to every imaginable genera of music; from hip-hop to rock, from blues to ballads.
14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Jam-band, WORLD: World Fusion
Details:
This tribal jamrock powerhouse is at the forefront of the growing Pacific NW didgeridoo movement. Tony Sciola, Jeff Cooper, Ronnie Lamb, and Chris Jhana as Vivid curve bring together a wholly original musical combination, producing a sound that is both unclassifiable, and unforgettable!
Jeff Cooper, Self-taught in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, his dedication to the intuitive exploration of the didgeridoo sound in its modern context has allowed him to develop a vocabulary of rhythms and tones that are truly his own, including multiple high frequency tone production, Tuvan style vocalizations, tabla style articulations and beat boxing!
Interview with the Urban Shaman--> http://www.songsfromahollowlog.com/jeffc1.htm
Tony Sciola, steel string wizard, captains each odyssey of improvisation with an endless repertoire of original and classic tunes using a range of stringed instruments including mandolin and various guitars: a Guild acoustic, Carver electric and A National Steel (handcrafted by Sciola when he worked for National Resophonic Guitar).
Ronnie Lamb, the groupâs talented and versatile percussionist, performs with a truly unique rhythmic pallet. Mixing electronic triggers with an acoustic drumkit, Ronnie's drumming is an expression of the organic/electronic evolution of dance.
Chris Jhana, madman on the congas, has developed through years of research a hand drum arrangement that encompasses a planet's worth of tribal percussion. Djembes, dumbecks, bells, chimes and much more all help lay down a dance groove nobody can sit still for!
"The didgeridoo has found a home here in Stumptown with a new wave of players. A group called Vivid Curve (its members including âUrban Shamanâ Jeff Cooper) has freshened up the traditional droning tube."
