Vonn New is a composer, performer, and improviser who uses percussion, flutes, computers, environmental sounds, spoken word and anything else at hand to create sonic playgrounds for herself and others. Her intent as an artist is to build peace by modeling the art of listening and the expression of defiant joy. She has been known to play just for fun, however. She recently moved to New York State from Florida where she was the founder and music director for Loud Zoo, the Music and Dance Experiment, and a member of an electro-acoustic drone trio ZoOg. In New York, she plays solo and collaborates promiscuously in various ensembles with Pauline Oliveros, David Arner, Michael Bisio, Charles Stein, If,Bwana, and video artist, Diana Slattery.
