ROCK: Folk Rock, SPOKEN WORD: With Music
Details:
Wagner & The Zombie Men (pronounced Vagner), hailing from the frozen metropolis of Minneapolis, MN, combine minimalist folk rock elements with spoken word to create a sort of âzombie radio theaterâ. While zombies are the theme, they serve chiefly to heighten the tension in tales of love lost and intrigue. While much of the violence inherent to zombies is implied, the concept is an admittedly âcampyâ one. However, those who discover Wagner & The Zombie Men do find themselves drawn into the character-focused storylines. The uniqueness of Wagner & The Zombie Menâs âzombie radio theaterâ carries over into its sound. The band consists of only two very disparate instruments, mandolin and drums. Together they create a tense eerie sound befitting a duo performing songs about zombies.
Across the Fall of Sunset, the first release by Wagner & The Zombie Men, features two separate story lines. Its heavy rhythm and lo-fi sound coupled with sound effects capture the raw tension of Wagner & The Zombie Menâs unique live radio theater style.
