walt the sultry baritone singer/songwriter is a bronx native that started singing in the choir for soundview presbyterian church at the age of nine. at the age of 12 he performed in several talent showcases such as childrens aide society and kips bay boys & girls club. at fifteen he formed several bands, one which was managed by donald newkirk of de la soul & 3rd basss fame.
now in his twenties as a solo artist he has performed at such venues as the nuyurican cafÉ, joes pub and ashford & simpsons sugar bar. he has also collaborated with such artist as hip-hops mega band the roots and r&bs legendary group skyy.
following up the success of his ep turn up the music.walt is releasing his highly anticipated album titled inner city. the project came about while walt crossed paths with several established and up & coming producers and artist. most of the milestone record is co-produced by detroits own afra behn.with guest appearances from mc/producer monk. guest vocals from tara thomas & the soular sistren and production from krohme of godsendant productions. walts music displays a sound that is rich, timeless and soulgasmic. the music is an eclectic melting pot of many influences that expand the boundaries of contemporary jazz, r&b, funk, rock, hip-hop, house and soul. inner city the lp exceeds all of todays contrived soul/neo-soul albums.
on each song walt sings to convey and express his deepest emotions and thoughts. with vocals reminiscent of such artist as issac hayes to the late barry white ranging to artist like gerald levert/teddy pendergrass, he owns a unique sultry, soulful, orgasmic sound that can only be labeled walt. as a songwriter he creates pictures and perspectives of his life of love and loose growing up in the inner city ghettos of new york. lyrically he sparks the strong art of storytelling that captures similarities to greats such as bill withers, marvin gaye, stevie wonder and gill scott heron.
walt is emerging from the r&b and soul era which is witnessing the success of anthony hamilton and john legend.
