Started in the fall of 2005, rayburn was founded by pianist and vocalist Daniel Erb as a change from his successful solo career. During his solo career, Daniel toured the entire east coast, distributed over 8000 copies of his 2004 EP, and opened for artists such as Keane and Ryan Cabrera. Guitarist Adam Rowan, and drummer Dave Benedic were also part of a local success story T-Condo from 2001-2004. After adding bassist Randy Hicks, the bandâs lineup was complete, and they began writing songs. Soon after the bandâs formation, they played their very first show opening for Ingram Hill in Columbus. Before the show the band didnât even have a name, and decided just minutes before the show started that they would name the band rayburn, an acquaintance's last name. Since this show, rayburn has shared the stage with several other accomplished artists such as Augustana, The Hush Sound, The Working Title, and Flickerstick. In their short touring career, they have have sold over 1000 copies of their 2005 self-titled EP and have recieved airplay on columbus radio's CD101. Through 2006 they continued to play shows around Columbus, frequenting popular clubs such as The Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, The Newport Music Hall, The Basement, Little Brothers, Skullyâs Music Diner, and Oldfield's. In late 2006, they signed a recording contract with a local independent label, Pickup Records, and began to record their highly anticipated debut album at relay recording studio in Columbus. The album, titled wearerayburn, will be released January 20th at the Basement in Columbus, and the band will tour the country in support of their release in 2007.
