Details:
Doc Corbin Dart was lead singer, founder and lyricist of Lansing, Michigan, USA's seminal 80's punk rock act Crucifucks.
Doc's excruciating vocal stylings have been described as harsh, whiney, and "like paint-stripper." His lyrics are rants against America, the police, and civil established society. While on stage, Doc regularly would cut his face and arms with a pink Lady Bic razor, covering the mic and stage with blood.
The band formed in 1982, and signed to Alternative Tentacles releasing the self titled 'Crucifucks', a year later followed up with 'Wisconsin'. In 1992, these records were re-released as a CD titled 'Our Will Be Done' and the back cover featured a photo of what Dart believed was a slain policeman, the photo was actually from a police drill, and the use of said photo led to a lawsuit.
Perhaps the high point of his public career was the very public loss of a $2.2 million lawsuit by default judgement in 1997 brought against him, Alternative Tentacles Records, and Jello Biafra by the City of Philadelphia chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police. In December of that year, the suit was appealed and dropped.
Doc Dart went on to record two solo projects, Patricia (1990, Alternative Tentacles, LP/CS only), and the CS-only self-released, Black Tuesday, in '91.
In 1998, The Crucifucks reformed and did a brief national tour, including a performance at Alternative tentacles 20th Aniiversary Party. They also released their first CD in nearly a decade, called 'L.D. Eye'.
Doc continues as a mainstay of alternative culture in Lansing, Michigan, regularly showing up in local papers, and runs a baseball trading card storefront in a small, bleak collection of shops on Michigan Avenue near Sparrow Hospital.
In recent years, Doc Corbin Dart, changed his name to 26 and released a new solo CD on Madison, Wisconsin's Crustacean Records. The CD from 26 'The Messiah', while still full of the same angst that made The Crucifucks a legend, it is also more mature.
