Details:
Gil Piger truly is a guitarist extraordinaire. He started out as a strictly classical guitarist, after all he was trained at the Royal Conservatory in Madrid, Spain. After coming back to the US Gil built his reputation by performing until he was ask to teach at the School of Music at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, ID, where he continued his music studies and earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. However, after a few years of having built up the Guitar Department, he left to pursue more of his composing and performing.

His first radical change from strictly classical began in 1981, when he released his all original album âJazzy Flamencoâ, which received raved reviews from Guitar Player Magazine and Jazz Line, and even made it on the Jazz Charts.

His style is hard to define, since it appeals to audiences from classic, jazz, latin, instrumental and easy-listening. He has been since refining his art while continuing performing along with teaching and producing more albums. In Gil Piger truly is a guitarist extraordinaire. The âTwo sides of Gil Pigerâ is one side being Classical fission - having classical oriented pieces, while the other side is Flamenco Fusion - more Spanish flamenco oriented pieces. Also included is a classical Spanish piece âGranadaâ, by Albeniz, where he added other instruments and speeded up the tempo.
