A few years ago, Irina was singing her own songs for her two children. She regretted that she forgot them all the time, so she started recording them.
Then she started thinking of making a cd with a few of those songs, for her children to remember. So she went to a musician she knew from her singing career (she used to sing in a Gospel choir). Feico the Leeuw listened to her songs and agreed to make music to them.

It was a project of two years, in between raising the kids and finding time to record everything together. But by then she had more than fifteen songs.

During this time, she had difficulty communicating with her youngest son. He did not talk as fast as her daughter (who started talking from her first birthday). She thought it very frustrating. A friend of her gave her a card of Lissa Zeviar, who did workshops 'baby-signing'. She went to the workshop and became very enthousiastic about signing to her children. She started picking it up. It was a difficult beginning, but after her son understood that those signs helped him communicate with his mother, he was eager to learn more and more.

Irina started to make signs with the songs she had made and then started combining: she made dances, movements and singing gestures to the songs.
From then on, she started to do her own 'join-in' performances: Performances where children (and their grand-parents) joined in and do the dances, movements and gestures together.
She has filmed the dances, movements and gestures and you can see them on her site www.knarfworld.nl. So when you buy the cd, you already have an example of how to move with your children!

She has a lot of fun doing those performances. 'Children like to move, it is not difficult to have them join in. Parents are a little more hesitating, but I like to think that they can do it with their children when they are back home and play the cd.'

The music by Feico de Leeuw is as always a lot of fun, a lot of instruments, and because of his experience with choirs, there are a lot of background vocals.
