I Tell You What isn't fooling anyone with their blues and soul style- This is beautiful rock music. What Would You Do? captures this New Orleans based trio as they persevere through bouts of raw songcraft and manic improvisational episodes.
17 MP3 Songs
POP: Quirky, ROCK: Psychedelic
Details:
I Tell You What is starting 2007 off with the release of What Would You Do? The 17 song record was recorded in early 2006 and is arriving in January from Attention Spaniel Records.
I Tell You What plays raucous, original rock and roll music in a blues and soul style. For three years, I Tell You What has been exciting audiences in New Orleans with their high-energy shows and memorable songs. The group has recently released their second live CD and launched their web site: itellyouwhatband.com.
Originally formed in 2001, I Tell You What honed their sound with weekly shows at the Banks St. Bar. Following a momentous buildup, I Tell You What was nearly disbanded after the death of founding member Peter Meehan III. Three years later, I Tell You What has weathered the storm and reestablished their reputation as the most reckless original, blues-playing, rock band around.
Front-man and founder, Adam Crochet has played throughout the south in various bands including Trainwreck and Jonas Risinâ (who made their N.O. Jazz Fest debut in 2001). Adamâs wild guitar style is unique and instantly recognizable all the while evoking the classic country and urban blues of the past. For Adam, I Tell You What is a labor or love.
Having already made a name for himself as co-founder of the Flavor Kings and Afroskull, Bill Richards joined I Tell You What in 2003. Though Billâs formidable bass playing and musical savvy are always in high demand, he remains loyal to I Tell You What and what he calls âthe bandâs musical philosophyâ.
Originally transplanted to New Orleans to learn under the great local drummers, Quin Kirchner has since come into his own as an in-demand session player and quality go-to guy. At times, Quin has played with as many as 23 bands simultaneously, a credit to his talent and versatility. A musicianâs musician, Quin joined I Tell You What for the vital musical chemistry he found with Adam and Bill.
In 2006, I Tell You What returned to New Orleans and is doing their part to bring the music back.
In a market saturated with bands who want to be original but are afraid to sound different, I Tell You What is original because they are afraid of sounding the same. Always entertaining, you never know what you might hear and they never know what they might play.
